It is this time of the year when each Maison de Couture presents its Cruise 2016 collection. A few weeks ago, Dior wowed us in the Palais des Bulles, a palatial home owned by Pierre Cardin which is set on a Cliffside close to Cannes. The creative director Ralf Simon rendered old silhouettes in a modern composition. Louis Vuitton went big in Palm Spring with a few hundred of the fashion crowd. But so far, Gucci had me most seduced.
It was Gucci’s new creative director Alessondro Michele’s second collection, like an extension of his Fall collection. He dazzled the guests with bold colorfulness – from a maxi dress in a mustard yellow lace with deep red flower details or blue birds, to a hazy pink dress with a smoky red waist belt, or to a pair of purple cross strap mule shoes. I love his Retro conception of the new Gucci woman with reintroduction of 50’s or 70’s cuts. Androgyny was also a recurring theme of the collection. You may well confuse the male with the female models.
Look at the images – they are definitely worth more than a thousand words.
