Swatch recently launched its “Grüezi All!” collection (Grüezi is Hi! in the Swiss German dialect). I was invited along with a few journalists and fellow-bloggers to be among the first to discover the watches.
We travelled up by train to the glamorous alpine village of Gstaad and stayed at the big but elegant chalet-style Steigenberger Alpenhotel. We arrived in the late-afternoon and just had time to quickly change before heading out for dinner. An old bus (like the one you see in the pictures) took us to the evening location…well, almost. The restaurant is at the peak of a mountain, so Swatch organized for ski-lifts to run privately just for us. We even had an aperitif on the ride with a splendid view over the Swiss Alps. You can count on Swatch to create such magical moments!
At our destination, we finally had our first glimpse of the watches. Each Grüezi All! model plays on a Swiss icon, not without a touch of humor. My favorite must be the “moitié-moitié” (half-half) which pays tribute to one of our fondues (yes, there are several Swiss cheese fondue recipes). The watch hands are in shape of the long fondue fork, the dial is cheesy-yellow and the bracelet has the pattern of a gingham tablecloth (used in traditional Swiss households or restaurants). The evening followed with a succulent dinner against the backdrop of a spectacular sunset.
For this classy indoor-outdoor evening, I wanted an outfit which was both elegant and comfortable. I wore a lace mid-length dress under a linen blazer, white brogues and added a note of color with my Gucci bag.
