Have you heard about Shu Uemura Art of Hair? Last Monday, I went to Montreux to one of their selected professional salons, Lacoiffure by Daniel Ferreira, to learn more about the brand and experience one of their rituals called the “Deep Ceremony“. Let me tell you more about it.
Shu Uemura mirrors Japanese culture – especially the Tokyo vibe – singular and dynamic, at once modern and traditional. Their philosophy is to rely on the power of nature by using natural ingredients (eg, camellia oil along with musk rose oil).
The in-salon rituals are also inspired by the traditional tea ceremony. Michael, my appointed hair stylist, started by checking out my hair condition. Verdict: the ends are dehydrated. Michael then prepared a mix of oils to reduce the sebum at the roots, and to repair and nourish the colored hair (left over from highlights I added last summer). There is this French expression “joindre l’utile à l’agréable” which translates broadly to “combining business with pleasure”. What a relaxing hour I had! The treatment included a massage of the scalp, shoulders, arms and hands. All this pampering was wonderful, what about the results?
I did see a real big improvement of my hair condition. Indeed, they felt lighter, smoother, and the ends re-nourished. You should definitely go see the hearty team of Daniel and Michael at Lacoiffure salon in Montreux. You will be warmly welcome, enjoy a relaxing hour, and get your hair fabulously treated !
But wait, my experience with Shu Uemura will not stop here… This Sunday I will get to know the Shu Uemura team in Zurich and immerse myself in the world of the hairstyling profession. That’s because I will take part to the 2016 Gallery of Style contest with six world-class Swiss hairstylists. They will be judged on their artistic and technical interpretations of the theme “Tokyo Vibe” that also capture the energy of Shu Uemura. The Swiss winner will then go on to compete in the world final in Tokyo. There is so much at stake for the contestants and I can barely contain my excitement.
