I recently discovered the charming town of Lucerne, thanks to Carl F. Bucherer who invited me to celebrate the launch of their “Made of Lucerne” city guide.  It is often said that if tourists were to visit only one place in Switzerland, it would be Lucerne – it offers all the iconic views of the lake and mountain peaks, and a “typical” Swiss old town.

Made of Lucerne

Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened their first watch and joaillerie boutique in Lucerne. Deeply bound to the city, they wanted to show its great cultural background and many facets and through a city guide.   They also invited a few influencers and bloggers to share their insight of Lucerne.

I arrived in the morning and checked into The Hotel Lucerne Autograph Collection (a Marriott brand). I really like the dark lighting and colors which bring a cocooning atmosphere to the minimalist decor. Later, we met up the Carl F. Bucherer team to have lunch at the hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Bam Bou. After a free afternoon, we met up with the team again and finish the evening at Weisse Schaf bar that boasts a seemingly endless cocktail menu. If you can’t make up your mind, ask the helpful bartenders (they must be used to this).

The following day, we met with our guide to visit a few iconic places which are deep and rich in history.  For example, the Chapel Bridge is a the 200m long wooden covered footbridge (the oldest in Europe but rebuilt after a fire in 1993).  Inside the bridge you can admire a series of paintings showing historical events in Lucerne.  We walked around the delightful Old Town and also saw the carved-stone Lion Monument (which commemorates the massacre of Swiss Guards during the French Revolution).  You can follow my tour on the app-website of “Made of Lucerne”: lucerne.carl-f-bucherer.com.

After a quick stop at Hotel Gütsch for a panoramic view over Lucerne, we had lunch at Millefeuille a restaurant by the river a warm welcoming interior.  We were reminded during our savory meal to keep our appetite for chocolate tasting at Max Chocolatier.  What better way to leave Lucerne than on this sweet note!
