Instagram is great for finding new places. That’s how I discovered The Blooming Gallery in Bangkok, Thailand (while browsing hashtaghs #BangkokFood and #BangkokFoodie). I immediately high-listed the misleadingly-named café when I saw that “Matcha Cheesecake” picture and its raving caption.
Nestled in the Eight Thonglor shopping mall, the café is set like a glasshouse with a forest-like interior of dangling ferns and flowers. On the bar, sweets like rose cookies and scones scream for attention. But my mind was set on the dessert I saw on IG, which I ordered with a wild rose iced tea. The drink came first – a tasty refreshing infusion – just what you need to cool down. “The Path in The Forest” is a culinary journey through a 4-layer cake of soft cheesecake, matcha mousse, crumbles, fresh cream, and matcha powder from Kyoto sprinkled upon the serve. It is not only the most original way to interpret matcha into a dessert I have tried, but what scrumptious result!
With inventive offerings in a charming deco, The Blooming Gallery is not to be missed when you are in Bangkok.
PS: If you manage to get the recipe (which I failed at doing), please forward it to me.
