More shopping and eating-out suggestions from my trip to Bangkok.
Eat & Eat…
Apinara Thai Cuisine The destination for traditional spicy Thai food. The menu does also offer a selection of “neutral” dishes. The décor is authentically traditional yet manages to feel modern.
After You Dessert Cafe I tried the signature toast with ice cream dessert. The toast, a cubic-shape sweet loaf with melted butter, is topped with two scoops of ice cream and whipped cream (as if to double the pleasure). I particularly liked the matcha ice cream. Not very refined as a recipe but simply guilt-invoking delicious.
The Blooming Gallery I can help telling people about this place whenever Bangkok comes up in a conversation. The décor is lovely and I had a matcha dessert to die for. Want to read more about it?
Sky Bar of the Lebua Hotel Rooftop bars are all the rage in Bangkok and every self-respecting building seems to have one. Sky Bar claims to be highest open-air bar in the world. It offers an unbeatable panorama of the bustling city Indeed, I can think of worse laces to be in a cool evening to sip a cocktail.
Shop Until You Drop
Chatuchak Market Be armed with patience if you want to shop here. Be prepared also to sieve through a lot of trashy stuff to find your gems.. The market is also organized like a maze, as if to entrap you. If you like something in a stall, don’t go away to think about it. Take it straightaway. Otherwise, it will drive you nuts to retrace your steps to find that stall. PS: You can also have some amazing street food there.
Platinum Wholesale Mall It is the place for great bargains with malls offering cheap and trendy selections of clothes and accessories. It is my first experience of wholesale shopping. Luckily I am not tempted into buying quantity over quality. I did find some cute summer pieces, like jumpsuits, skirts or tops.
Asiatique I don’t really recommend coming here (so you know). It is a nice enough place to see and walk around, but there is nothing outstanding nor charming.
Coconut ice cream at the floating market served with glutinous rice and corn.
