Women in the cities in Asia seem to enjoy dressing up. They parade the streets on weekends with the latest it-bags – and not in your usual jeans, t-shirts and sneakers combination. Girls nail the office wear too. In Lausanne and even in the bigger city of Zurich, I would become self-conscious wearing simple heels or slipping into a stylish black dress. No such inhibitions here. Surrounded by fashionistas, I was stimulated to venture into new styles. I am excited every day in front of my wardrobe figuring out my outfit for the day. Here, my favorite “casual” ootd’s to pull off a more sophisticated look.
I wear a pleated skirt with a modern pattern, and tuck in a vivid blue strap top that hints at the blue of the skirt. Then I add a belt to structure the waistline. I never tire of my metallic pink mules (yay, I seem to be ahead of the curve, similar styles are now getting popular for example at Esprit: click). I am not dressing up for any occasion but to enjoy creating this distinctive look. While clothes do not make a (wo)man, they do influence your mood. I enjoy the exercise and result – you should try it too.
